An Ophthalmic Resident is a postgraduate medical trainee undergoing specialized training in the diagnosis, medical treatment, and surgical management of eye diseases. The residency involves rotations across subspecialties, hands-on surgical experience, outpatient care, and academic learning to become a competent ophthalmologist.

Job Description
- Assists in Diagnosis and Management of Ocular Diseases
- Evaluates patients using slit-lamp, fundus exams, tonometry, OCT, and other diagnostic tools under supervision.
- Performs Minor and Assists in Major Eye Surgeries
- Gains hands-on experience in procedures such as chalazion excision, pterygium surgery, and assists in cataract, glaucoma, and retinal surgeries.
- Manages Outpatient Clinics and Emergency Eye Cases
- Handles routine follow-ups, acute eye emergencies, and triage of urgent cases.
- Participates in Academic and Clinical Teaching Activities
- Attends lectures, journal clubs, case discussions, and presents clinical research or audits.
- Maintains Detailed Patient Records and Documentation
- Prepares discharge summaries, operative notes, and maintains logs for surgical exposure and training milestones.
- Collaborates with Senior Consultants and Multidisciplinary Teams
- Works under supervision while developing decision-making, patient communication, and teamwork skills.
