FAQS

What is Doppler ultrasound?

Doppler ultrasound measures blood flow through vessels. It detects changes in frequency caused by moving red blood cells. It helps diagnose conditions like blood clots, blocked arteries, and heart valve issues.

What is the role of gel in ultrasound scanning?

Ultrasound gel eliminates air between the transducer and skin. Air blocks sound waves, so the gel ensures proper transmission of sound into the body. This improves image quality and accuracy.

What is acoustic shadowing?

Acoustic shadowing occurs when sound waves are blocked by dense structures like bones or stones. This creates a dark shadow behind the structure on the image. It is commonly seen in gallstones or kidney stones.

How do you ensure infection control in ultrasound procedures?

Proper cleaning and disinfection of probes after each use is essential. For internal scans, high-level disinfection is required. Use of probe covers and gloves ensures patient safety.

What is echogenicity?

Echogenicity refers to how tissues reflect ultrasound waves. Hyperechoic tissues appear brighter, while hypoechoic tissues appear darker. Anechoic areas, such as fluid-filled cysts, appear black.
