FAQS
What are the main responsibilities of a CT Scan Technician?
The primary responsibility of a CT Scan Technician is to operate CT imaging equipment to produce accurate diagnostic images. This includes patient preparation, positioning, and ensuring proper communication during procedures. The role also involves maintaining equipment safety and following standard imaging protocols.
Why is CT scanning important in medical diagnosis?
CT scanning provides detailed images of bones, organs, and tissues that are not visible in standard X-rays. It is especially useful in trauma, cancer detection, and internal bleeding assessment. CT imaging supports fast and accurate clinical decision-making.
What radiation safety measures must be followed during CT procedures?
Radiation safety measures include using the lowest effective radiation dose, proper shielding, and adherence to established exposure limits. Patient history and justification of scans are reviewed to avoid unnecessary exposure. Regular monitoring and equipment calibration ensure safe operation.
How is image quality ensured during a CT scan?
Image quality is ensured through correct patient positioning, selection of appropriate scan parameters, and minimizing patient movement. Technicians follow standardized protocols and perform quality assurance checks. Proper contrast administration, when required, also enhances image clarity.
What is the role of contrast media in CT scanning?
Contrast media are used to enhance visualization of blood vessels, organs, and tissues. Technicians ensure correct dosage, patient screening for allergies, and safe administration. Monitoring patients during and after contrast use is essential to manage adverse reactions.
