Overview
A Robotics Program Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the development, implementation, and strategic direction of robotics programs, particularly in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, or technology. This role involves leading teams, coordinating projects, setting program goals, and ensuring that robotic systems are designed, tested, and deployed efficiently. In healthcare, for example, this could involve overseeing robotic surgery systems, robotic-assisted therapies, or automation in medical devices. The Director ensures that programs are innovative, cost-effective, and align with the organization’s goals while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Job Description
- Program Leadership and Strategy – Lead and set the strategic direction for robotics initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and vision. Develop long-term plans to enhance robotics systems, innovations, and capabilities.
- Team Management and Development – Manage cross-functional teams, including engineers, clinicians (in healthcare), and project managers, to execute robotics projects. Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to team members, ensuring optimal performance.
- Budget and Resource Allocation – Oversee the program budget, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively and that robotics projects stay within budget constraints. This includes managing procurement of technology, tools, and training.
- Project Oversight – Supervise the design, testing, and deployment of robotic systems. Ensure that all milestones are met in a timely manner, while maintaining the highest standards for safety, performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication – Work closely with senior leadership, medical professionals, engineers, and external stakeholders to communicate program goals, progress, and challenges. Foster collaboration across departments to ensure the success of robotics initiatives.
- Innovation and Research – Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, research, and innovations in robotics and automation. Lead efforts to explore new technologies, testing new robotic systems, and developing cutting-edge solutions that give the organization a competitive edge.
- Compliance and Risk Management – Ensure that all robotics programs comply with relevant regulations, such as FDA guidelines in healthcare or safety standards in manufacturing. Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to address any challenges.
