Job Description
- Conduct preoperative assessments to evaluate the patient’s health status, medical history, and potential anesthesia risks, particularly in patients with liver disease.
- Administer and manage anesthesia during liver transplant surgeries, carefully monitoring vital signs, blood loss, and the patient's response to anesthesia.
- Manage fluid and electrolyte balance during the surgery, especially given the risks associated with liver disease, such as coagulopathy and renal dysfunction.
- Monitor intraoperative hemodynamics, ensuring that blood pressure, oxygenation, and ventilation remain stable, adjusting anesthetic agents as needed.
- Provide postoperative care in the recovery room or ICU, ensuring smooth emergence from anesthesia and managing pain, sedation, and potential complications like respiratory or cardiovascular issues.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hepatologists, transplant surgeons, and ICU specialists, to optimize patient care before, during, and after surgery.
- Manage complex cases involving comorbidities like cirrhosis, hepatitis, or kidney dysfunction, adjusting anesthesia protocols to suit individual patient needs.
