A Transplant ICU Specialist is a critical care physician with expertise in managing patients who have undergone solid organ transplants (e.g., liver, kidney, heart, lung) during the immediate and high-risk postoperative period in the intensive care unit (ICU). They ensure organ function, hemodynamic stability, infection control, and overall recovery in collaboration with transplant surgeons and multidisciplinary teams.

Job Description
- Monitor and manage post-transplant patients in the ICU, ensuring stability of the newly transplanted organ and overall systemic function.
- Lead critical care interventions, including ventilator support, fluid management, inotropes, and renal replacement therapy as needed.
- Prevent and treat postoperative complications, such as graft rejection, infections, bleeding, or multi-organ dysfunction.
- Interpret complex diagnostics, including imaging, labs, and organ-specific markers (e.g., liver enzymes, creatinine, echocardiography).
- Coordinate care with transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, infectious disease experts, and immunology teams to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Implement immunosuppressive protocols safely, monitoring for drug toxicities and immune-related complications.
- Educate ICU staff and trainees on the specific needs and protocols for managing transplant recipients in critical care settings.
