Their focus is on identifying and reducing risk factors—like hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, obesity, and family history—before heart disease or stroke occurs. They often work in clinics, hospitals, or wellness centers and collaborate closely with primary care physicians and cardiologists.

Job Description
- Assess patients’ cardiovascular risk profiles using clinical exams, history, lab tests, and advanced imaging if needed.
- Develop personalized prevention plans focusing on lifestyle changes, medications, and regular monitoring.
- Manage modifiable risk factors, including hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and obesity, to prevent cardiac events.
- Prescribe statins, antihypertensives, and other preventive medications, adjusting therapy based on risk and response.
- Provide lifestyle counseling on diet, exercise, stress management, smoking cessation, and weight control.
- Monitor patients with family histories of early cardiovascular disease, including those with genetic lipid disorders.
- Collaborate with other specialists such as endocrinologists, nutritionists, and cardiac rehabilitation teams to ensure holistic care.
