An Invasive Technician is a vital healthcare professional who assists in conducting minimally invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures, mainly in cardiovascular care. Working closely with physicians, they operate specialized equipment during catheterizations and angiograms. They help monitor patient vitals and ensure sterile techniques are followed throughout the procedure. This role demands precision, quick response, and a strong understanding of clinical protocols. Invasive Technicians often work in cath labs, surgical suites, or diagnostic imaging centers.
Job Description
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field and necessary instruments for invasive cardiovascular procedures.
- Assist cardiologists and surgeons during catheterizations, stent placements, pacemaker insertions, and angiographies.
- Monitor patients’ heart rate, blood pressure, and other vitals during procedures.
- Operate and calibrate imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy and X-ray machines for diagnostic accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, infection control policies, and emergency response protocols.
- Document procedural details and maintain accurate patient records post-procedure.
- Provide pre- and post-procedural care instructions to patients under the supervision of medical staff.
