FAQS
How should preventive maintenance be planned for engineering equipment?
Maintenance schedules should be based on manufacturer recommendations, operating hours, equipment criticality, and previous failure history. Required tools, spare parts, and safety measures should be arranged before the activity begins.
How should a recurring equipment failure be investigated?
Maintenance records, failure history, operating conditions, replaced components, and previous repairs should be reviewed. Root-cause analysis can then be used to identify the underlying problem rather than repeatedly treating the same symptom.
How should equipment performance be checked after maintenance?
The equipment should be inspected and tested according to the approved procedure. Operating parameters, safety features, abnormal sounds or vibrations, and required performance indicators should be verified before returning it to service.
How should maintenance activities be documented?
Work performed, equipment condition, identified faults, parts replaced, measurements, test results, and follow-up requirements should be recorded accurately. Proper documentation supports future troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
How should an Engineering Technician handle unfamiliar equipment?
The equipment manual, technical drawings, SOPs, training materials, and manufacturer's instructions should be reviewed before intervention. Assistance from an experienced engineer or technician should be obtained when required.
