FAQS
What are the main indications for IVF treatment?
IVF is indicated in cases such as tubal blockage, severe male factor infertility, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, and failure of less invasive treatments like IUI. It is also used in advanced maternal age and genetic screening cases. Proper patient selection improves success rates.
What is controlled ovarian stimulation?
Controlled ovarian stimulation involves using hormonal medications to stimulate multiple follicles in one cycle. This increases the number of retrievable oocytes for IVF. Monitoring is done through ultrasound and hormone levels.
How do you prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome?
Careful monitoring of follicular growth and estradiol levels is important. Using antagonist protocols, GnRH agonist trigger, and adjusting medication doses helps reduce risk. High-risk patients may require cycle modification.
What factors affect IVF success rates?
Maternal age, embryo quality, ovarian reserve, sperm quality, and uterine health significantly affect outcomes. Lifestyle factors and laboratory conditions also play a role.
What is preimplantation genetic testing ?
Preimplantation genetic testing involves testing embryos for genetic abnormalities before transfer. It helps reduce the risk of inherited disorders and improves implantation rates in selected cases.
