Overview
This program studies the influence of genetics on human reproduction, fertility, and inheritance. Students learn how to distinguish between pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, chromosomal abnormalities, and gamete analysis. The practical training includes karyotyping, FISH, PCR, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics. Along with this, the ethical and legal aspects of genetic testing, counselling, and reproductive decision-making are also given much importance.
Students will be prepared academically in fields of research such as genetic screening, epigenetics, and monogenic infertility with a research dissertation. In addition, the course will partake in clinical exposure via real-life interaction with genetic counselling and reproductive specialists. This training will position students to derive benefits from the programs in translational research, IVF clinics, and genetic testing labs. The study units will incorporate regenerative biology, reproductive genomics, and prenatal genetics. Thus, the program provides a training ground to develop students into leaders in reproductive genetics services, equipped with laboratory skills and counselling acumen.
