Overview
A Proteomics Specialist is a scientist or researcher who studies the structure, function, and interactions of proteins within cells, tissues, or organisms. Their work helps to understand biological processes, discover disease biomarkers, and support drug development by analyzing the proteome—the full set of proteins expressed at a given time.

Job Description
- Analyze protein expression, structure, and function using advanced technologies like mass spectrometry, chromatography, and bioinformatics.
- Design and conduct proteomic experiments for research in areas such as cancer, infectious diseases, or metabolic disorders.
- Identify protein biomarkers for disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic targeting.
- Use bioinformatics tools and databases to interpret large-scale proteomic data (e.g., protein-protein interaction networks).
- Develop or optimize lab techniques, including protein extraction, purification, and quantification.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including genomics, metabolomics, and clinical researchers.
- Contribute to publications and reports, and may support regulatory submissions or translational research.
