A Forensic Surgeon is a medical expert who specializes in conducting postmortem examinations (autopsies) to determine the cause, manner, and circumstances of death, especially in suspicious or unnatural cases. They also contribute to legal investigations by interpreting injury patterns and providing medico-legal opinions.

1. Perform medico-legal autopsies to determine cause and manner of death in cases of homicide, suicide, or accidental death.
2. Examine and interpret injury patterns, weapon-related trauma, and wound characteristics in both deceased and living individuals.
3. Prepare detailed medico-legal reports, postmortem certificates, and forensic opinions for legal use.
4. Provide expert evidence in judicial proceedings based on forensic findings, often as a key witness in criminal cases.
5. Work closely with police, forensic labs, and judiciary during investigations of death and assault cases.
