Job Description
- Conduct postmortem examinations (autopsies) to determine the cause and manner of death, especially in suspicious or unnatural cases.
- Examine living individuals in cases of assault, sexual violence, torture, or domestic abuse to document injuries and collect forensic evidence.
- Prepare detailed medicolegal reports used in court proceedings, police investigations, and legal claims.
- Serve as an expert witness, presenting medical findings and testifying in courts on issues related to death, injury, or medical negligence.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, judiciary, and forensic labs to interpret biological evidence such as blood, tissue, or DNA.
- Conduct age estimations, especially in legal cases involving juveniles, immigration, or identity disputes.
- Participate in teaching and training, guiding medical students, law enforcement, and legal professionals in aspects of forensic medicine.
