Candidates must hold a PhD in Mathematics or a closely related discipline with a consistently good academic record. A Master’s degree in Mathematics with strong performance is also required. Teaching and research experience in recognized institutions is mandatory as per UGC regulations.

Responsibilities include teaching UG and PG courses, supervising PhD research, publishing scholarly articles, developing and updating syllabi, mentoring junior faculty, participating in examinations, contributing to departmental administration, organizing seminars, and supporting accreditation and quality assurance.

The salary typically ranges from ₹9 lakh to ₹18 lakh per annum in India, following UGC 7th Pay Commission scales. Private and deemed universities may offer variable compensation based on experience, research output, and institutional reputation.

Research is expected in pure and applied mathematics, including areas such as Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Numerical Methods, Probability and Statistics, Mathematical Modeling, and interdisciplinary applications. Candidates should publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences, and secure research grants when possible.
