Overview
The psycho-social support and mental health is a crucial need for survivors of disasters. It is a specialised subject under Counselling Psychology. It includes providing Psycho-social first aid, care, support, rehabilitation, reconstruction, preparedness, capacity building, hazard vulnerability risk reduction and mitigation. The Psychosocial and Mental Health service experts, also known as Psychosocial Counsellors, are working with Disaster Management Authority and related Government Agencies for survivors counselling and rehabilitation on different aspects.
