Overview
The Membership in Advanced General Dental Surgery (MAGDS) is a new examination, established to support the career pathway of practitioners who have developed higher level skills across the range of topics that form good General Dental Practice. It is completely exclusive and attainment of advanced accreditation from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. It is mark out the candidates as being able to dental practice at a Tier 2 level, just below the level of registered specialist practitioners. It allow practitioners to undertake more advanced treatments in their practice, which should lead to increased patient satisfaction and a reduction in the number of patient referrals from primary to secondary care. It gives benefit of ability to demonstrate a level of competence in the planning of treatment, problem solving and decision making relating to the execution of more complex treatments and cases. It also provide ability to demonstrate judgement in relation to the positive and negative impact of dental treatment and patient management on long term oral health.
