For the 2024-25 session, Uttar Pradesh plans to add 14 new medical colleges and increase the number of MBBS seats by 1,400 pending approval from the National Medical Commission. The state's medical education department has applied to the NMC for inspection of the campuses, and once permission is granted, these colleges will add to the approximately 8,000 MBBS seats available in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The districts where these medical colleges are being planned include Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur, and Kaushambi, among others.
