First Case of Swine Flu Variant of H3N2 detected in Vadodara

The infection symptoms of the Swine Flu virus include fever, cough, sore throat, chills, weakness and body aches. Children, Pregnant women and the Elderly are at a high risk of Swine Flu. At present, there are three main Influenza A virus subtypes that have been isolated in pigs H1N1, H1N2, and H3N2 in the US. (as per Centre for Disease Control, USA). India has recently registered its first H3N2 sub-variant of swine flu at SSG Hospital, Vadodara in Gujarat state. The patient is a 25 year old female with 22 weeks of pregnancy, admitted on 11 January 2023, suffering from mild symptoms of cold, fever, body pain and headache. During routine screening, the patient's COVID-19 test was negative and detected positive for the Swine Flu test.
