What safety precautions should be followed in a diagnostic lab?
Safety precautions include wearing PPE, proper disposal of biomedical waste, handling sharps carefully, and following infection control protocols.
What is the purpose of centrifugation?
Centrifugation is used to separate components of a sample, such as separating serum or plasma from blood.
What is the role of Contrast Media and what safety checks are required?
Contrast (dye) is used to highlight specific structures in imaging (CT/MRI). Before administration, I must check for iodine/gadolinium allergies and review the patient’s kidney function (Creatinine/GFR levels), as contrast can be hard on the kidneys.
